There is a conversation about technology and its true role in businesses around the globe.
Some companies are using technology to improve efficiency and increase productivity. Others are partially relying on applications, but are running the majority of their processes in a manual mode. The rest is putting out the fire as it appears, their operations are fully dependant on human action using simple computer software.
Companies have two options. They either embrace technology or reject it.
Devastating.
Probabilities of losing customers are very high when competitors are disrupting the market with new technology.
In my experience, businesses could not be using technology due to fear or due to budget.
Whether it is budget or fear, companies must evaluate their objectives soon. Previous justifications could be holding the business from making more money, and from growth.
If budget is the case, consider it is created to control expenses, not to asphyxiate the organization. There is always a way; revisit it.
Now, fear of displacement or fear of service substitution is worse. It is not a practical motive. What is real is the possible consequences like the loss of employment and going out of business.
It could be accuracy in inventory or velocity in a process. Workers, employers, and managers could increase their productivity by using technology to improve their performance too. From precision to productivity, using technology adds value to your service or your product.
Businesses should implement the use of technology.
Five reasons why technology can't supplant us.
Technology can't substitute human touch and creativity.
Technology is programmable, by humans.
Businesses are owned by humans, technology supports a lower operation cost.
Data analysis {in all businesses} is much simpler with the use of technology.
Technology provides systems integration to the applications used by humans.
In the logistics industry, technology is needed to provide visibility of goods from origin to destination, and to support a faster communication response between parties. The use of technology makes some processes seamless to the customer and adds value to their supply chain.
Instead of being fearful about technology taking over, how about exploring how it can serve to elevate your business' performance.
In my next publication, I will expand my perspective on how to use technology to enhance businesses and their processes.
