My Takeaways from a Supply Chain Resilience Discussion at a Cranfield School of Management Webinar

Friday 01/29, 6am, Puerto Rico.

I've attended a Live Webinar at the Cranfield School of Management in UK.

It was about Supply Chain Resilience.

All I can say is: what a way to start a Friday!

First, I thought about sharing my notes on LinkedIn, but, I got inspired. There was not enough space to share it in one post!

So, here are my takeaways:

  • It is not about having a group of plans; it is about being flexible and resilient. How fast is your supply chain able to respond with the expected result, in drastic shifts out of your control?

  • As a part of an ecosystem, we must INVEST in OPTIONS that allow our Supply Chains to ramp up capacity when needed and allow us to outsource resources when we cannot keep up with demand.

  • Covid19 has pushed companiesā€™ usual 80/20 proportion from: 80% normal operations, 20% exploration, to: 80% exploration, 20% normal operations. This reality has created new opportunities, modalities of businesses, service offerings, and innovation quicker than in any other normal scenario. This leads me to the next...

  • People rarely consider planning (for disruptions like the one we live in now), having flexibility, and being resilient in the Supply Chain and its operating infrastructure. Disruptions, like the one we are currently experiencing, reminds us that Supply Chains are a work of a group of people. This (also) leads me to the next...

  • When choosing our supply chain partners and developing business relationships,

    • Investing is needed from all partners.

    • Integration, as we all know, wonā€™t happen by magic.

    • Intention is crucial; having awareness and sharing the same purpose can significantly impact all supply chains.

We must remember, we are all connected!

What a fantastic group of panelists! Thank you for sharing your views!
